There will be two USC players representing Team USA this summer. Trojan sophomore Kennedy Smith had already been announced as a member of the United States squad that will participate in this year's AmeriCup tournament in Chile.

Incoming freshman Jazzy Davidson will also spend her July with an American team, as she has been named to the Under-19 side that will play in the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup. The competition will be hosted in the European country of Czechia.

The U.S. team will compete in Group A. They will be facing off in group play against Israel, Hungary, and Korea. From there, this collection of talent will be led by coach Teri Moren from Indiana. Assisting her will be coach Jose Fernandez from South Florida and Notre Dame's coach Niele Ivey.

Considering Team USA is coming off a gold medal-winning tournament from last year's Under-18 World Cup, a roster that also featured Davidson, and with a lot of carryover from that squad, they will like their chances to do so again in the European nation.

Regarding the U-19 World Cup specifically, the U.S. team is currently on a three-peat, aiming to win its fourth successive win of the competition.

Group play will begin on July 12, and the games appear to have a live YouTube feed ready for when the tip-offs begin. After three days of group play, the Americans will look to have performed well enough to then enter the Round of 16.

From there, the path to the final will be based on seeding and what happens elsewhere in the other games.

High ceiling for talented USC freshman

It is still an additional great opportunity for Davidson to compete at a high level and strive to find a groove and establish some early chemistry with other top players of her age group in the nation.

Davidson continues to build on her international resume. With a couple of years at USC, playing under coach Lindsay Gottlieb, if she continues to develop and grow her game, she will be hoping to represent the red, white, and blue for the Women's National Team.
