The Big Ten Championships are underway in Eugene, Oregon. USC is on the precipice of potentially achieving something truly incredible. Throughout the track season, the Trojans have boasted the top squads in the country. Between the men's and women's rosters, there are a number of athletes who are at the top of their game and are now positioned to win in their events at the BIG competition.
Qualifying for the final races or field events is a big deal. USC is pushing the boundaries even further than that with their sprint teams.
Five Trojans will race in the final heat during the women's 100m sprint. Brianna Selby, Samirah Moody, and Jassani Carter finished in first, second, and third, respectively, during the qualifying races. Dajaz Defrand and Olivia Pace also qualified to round out the dominating USC presence that will be seen in this event.
For the men's 100m sprint, Eddie Nketia finished behind Penn State's Ajani Dwyer, and Trojan teammates Garrett Kaalund and Max Thomas also moved into Sunday with their sixth- and seventh-place finishes.
The women's 400m sprint will feature Yemi John and Madison Whyte on Sunday. On the men's side for the 400m race, Jacob Andrews and William Jones will participate in the final heat. Johnny Brackins finished ahead of everyone else in qualifying during the men's 110m hurdles. He will be joined by Trojan Brithton Senior. In the women's 100m hurdles, Nonah Waldron advanced to Sunday as well.
Strong USC relay teams to look out for as well
Not only individually, but the relay teams are also expected to do well and earn the Trojans some points in the final day of the Big Ten Championships. During the men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400m races, USC will be represented and look to finish first in those respective events.
It is poised to be a potentially huge day for the program under Director Quincy Watts.
