This week, the USC football team faces a sneaky-tough game when the Trojans head across the country to take on Maryland. Though the Terrapins are not playing well this season, there is one factor that will make this test more difficult.

The Trojans have shown this season that the task of traveling two time zones or more eastward has been a challenge. Granted, had a penalty call here or there or a bounce of the ball gone a different way, USC could have beaten both Michigan and Minnesota, the two midwestern teams that the Trojans have lost to on the road in Big 12 play.

Still, it is fair to wonder if the travel component of those losses played a factor, especially early in those contests when the Trojans got off to slow starts. Now, USC has to make its longest trip of the season. Fortunately, the game kicks off at 1 p.m. Pacific but still, that is a relatively early kick for a USC team that will be adjusting its body clocks after a cross-country flight.

The good news is that Maryland is a poor team. Though they are 3-3 on the year, the same as USC, the Terrapins are 0-3 in Big Ten play and have played a much lighter schedule than the Trojans have.

The Terrapins' three wins this year have come against UCONN, Virginia, and Villanova, three teams that aren't considered top-notch. What's more, they have lost their last two Big Ten games by an average of 20.5 points.

Thus far, the only standout team that Maryland has faced is Indiana, the surprise team of the conference, and they lost that game 42-28 on the road. USC will present similar challenges for the Terrapins and that should give Trojan fans confidence even as their team makes one of the longest trips in college football.

So with that in mind, let's look at everything USC fans need to know about this game. And we'll start by looking at the broadcast infomation.
