It is well-established by now that USC is RBU. One of the bright emerging talents in the nation, Shahn Alston, is going to become a household name throughout college football by the time he steps foot on campus. If, however, he continues to have games like what he has right now, then he will be known way before then.
Playing for his high school team, the Harvey Red Raiders, Alston helped pave the way forward for his team's victory in a 57-41 win; the running back ran for eight total touchdowns and had 290 all-purpose yards, as shared by the News Herald's Ben Hercik on X.
Watching the play of Alston, it is clear that he is ready to take the next step and become a Division 1 student-athlete.
The way in which he can bounce off would-be tacklers and almost instantly create separation through his speed makes it so that he is likely due for a big-time play at any moment for the Red Raiders.
In the first half alone, Alston had five touchdowns and 200 all-purpose yards. While also showing that he has quite the ability on defense, the running back is going to garner the attention of anyone who is not already familiar with the ability of the Trojan commit out of Ohio.
Words from USC RB commit
It is one thing to be a great player who has already solidified a commitment to USC. His postgame comments with Hercik are more telling of who he is as a competitor and, more importantly, as a teammate.
" It’s going to be hard for teams to just key in on me because we have so many guys. A lot of different guys can score."
Knowing that he is likely to be the feature of every opposing team's game plan while also highlighting and giving credit to the ability of his teammates shows the way in which he approaches the game and shines a light on why coach Lincoln Riley was eager to add Alston to USC's 2026 class.
