Bias can show up in multiple forms. Somehow, it seemingly always finds its way to work against USC. If it isn't in recruiting, then it is in whichever other narrative du jour that is selected against the Trojans for the given day in question.

The latest example comes in the form of footage being shared from the Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis. Tomuhini Topui was taking on Chancellor Barclay, a commit of the Clemson Tigers, in an offense vs. defense drill.

It would be completely inaccurate to call it a one-on-one matchup considering Topui had the presence of two people he was attempting to work through. While Barclay gave more of the effort, the bystander essentially served as a chip and left his leg in the path of Topui after being forced back from the initial contact.

If that were a play that was an outside run, Topui would have gotten through and made the play. Based on what On3 recruits shared in their post, it was just like any other 1-v-1. This should highlight the overall concern many Trojan fans have rightly pointed out when it comes to the evaluation of Topui.

Overall criticism of how USC commit is rated

In the rankings, the USC commit is considerably lower than where he should be, and there isn't too much of a reason to not give him a fifth star.

Apparently it takes a double team in order for Topui to 'lose' a rep. The fact that this is what is shown as a win against the defensive lineman bodes well for his future. Perhaps it is a good thing that Topui is receiving this type of treatment; after all, considering the power that he has and his reaction time off the snap, he could be on the receiving end of many double-teams once he joins the full fold of the USC team.
