There are a number of ways in which USC sets itself apart. One of those would be the world-class facilities that are available on campus. Like anywhere else that is great, however, it is the people that allow the campus to truly stand out.
Under the spotlight for a big on Friday during the hoops offseason, coach Eric Musselman and coach Lindsay Gottlieb had a great chance to remind Trojan fans of who they are and the role they play in shaping USC basketball.
This came from a post shared by coach Musselman on X of him and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell. The current pro is spending part of his offseason training at the Galen Center. To have professionals pick the Trojan campus out of all of the options in Los Angeles shows the quality and care that the athletic department has put into making this one of the best in the nation.
USC's coach Gottlieb coached in Cleveland prior to coming to L.A.
Coach Gottlieb quote shared the post, reminding everyone that she can trace her coaching roots to being an assistant with the Cavs. At the time, for the 2019-2020 season, coach Gottlieb was brought on as part of the coach John Beilein staff. Coach J. B. Bickerstaff would take over, and the current USC women's HC stayed until joining the Trojans in 2021. Former USC player Kevin Porter was also a part of that Cleveland side.
The USC programs for the men's and women's teams are in two steady, capable hands now. Seeing an All-Star like Mitchell come to campus to work out and see the connection of the current Trojan coaches and their past connections prior to coming to Troy allows fans the opportunity to appreciate who is currently leading both Trojan teams as they each prepare for the 2025-2026 season.
