Some have wondered as to why USC freshman Alijah Arenas has not been able to practice up until this point. The delay, thankfully for him, did not have anything to do with his earlier car incident. Instead, it had everything to do with paperwork and procedure. Arenas needed to complete some classes and then arrived on campus later than some of the others.

Now with all of the bureaucracy out of the way, coach Eric Musselman announced that the Trojan would be a full-go for practice on Thursday.

The former five-star recruit enters USC with a lot of anticipation. Already with an impressive skill set for someone of his age, many expect him to be able to make the transition to college ball rather seamlessly.

While Arenas has not been able to directly participate during the practice itself, he has been present, listening, giving feedback, and learning as much as possible. There is a high level of excitement from the guard to get started and start helping his team get ready for the upcoming season.

Anticipated start for USC freshman

He knows that a lot of how the season will end up in terms of wins and losses will ultimately fall on his shoulders as one of the key backcourt pieces. With this in mind, Arenas is not one to let that translate into unneeded pressure or anything of that nature. The freshman is eager to play his role and help set his teammates up to have a good upcoming year in non-conference play and in the Big Ten.

For him, after sitting out and having to be an observer early on, it will be nice to put what he's learned so far into practice at practice itself. There is a reason why many are looking for this USC side to be improved this year, and Arenas has a lot to do with why there is an expected jump about to take place.
