Going far beyond what he needed to, USC freshman Alijah Arenas spoke at length following Tuesday's practice about the car incident from earlier this year that saw him receive care at the hospital.
The explanation from Arenas, which can be found on the InsideTroy YouTube channel, provided a highly detailed account of the events that led up to and during the crash.
With the guard was coach Eric Musselman, who mentioned how Arenas has always been someone who offers an individual approach in how he conducts life as a basketball player and in general.
While listening to Arenas tell of his experience and the level of concern that he had for others, the appreciation and amazingness of the person that coach Musselman was referring to were on full display.
Now removed from that incident from earlier, Arenas did tell reporters that he has a renewed sense of encompassing view on the impact that others can have on each other. For coach Musselman, that same mentality also translates when it comes to discussing the Xs and Os of basketball.
There are a couple of formalities to finish before Arenas can start practicing with the Trojans. An aspect that is clearer, if it wasn't already, is who the Trojans will have in their program for the 2025-2026 season.
A lot of players are talented. Few have the holistic view to see how they and others will fit within a program. That takes someone special.
A lot to look forward to from USC freshman
As of now, it is unknown how Arenas will do as a freshman. Considering his continued routine and attention to and love for the game, it is a safe bet to assume that he will be, at a minimum, a serviceable Division I guard.
When then taking everything else into consideration and how Arenas attacks his preparation for the upcoming season, he will be a player who is a pleasure to watch as he continues to grow while with the Trojans.
