The Trojans picked up the commitment of Roderick Tezeno Jr. for the USC class of 2026. Heading into his senior year, the wide receiver out of Opelousas Catholic School in Louisiana is a talented four-star athlete that had a lot of national intrigue. He is coming off a 1,000+ yard and 17 touchdown season as a junior.
Reported by On3's Hayes Fawcett, Tezeno Jr. already looks ready to make the move to California, as his message was shared on the announcement post of "All Glory to God, La to LA." Now looking to prepare himself for his upcoming college career, he'll have one more season at the high school level.
He is a dual-sport athlete. Playing on the varsity basketball program, the guard can make it happen on the court as well. The focus, for him, is football, though, as that is the sport that earned him offers from a number of universities. Interested programs included those such as Missouri, Georgia, and Mississippi State.
Watching Tezeno Jr. play, his speed instantly stands out. On a go route or a quick move to get the defender off balance, he easily creates separation for the quarterback to get the ball into his path. A part that he does nicely and efficiently is being able to set up the opposing defensive back. His quickness and footwork allow him to get open off the snap and provide a QB with a relatively easy window.
USC commit wants people to know he plays both ways
When asked about why he steps on the field for both phases, he shared the following when speaking with Louisiana vs. All Y'all:
"I'm just out here having fun, man. Playing the ability that God gave me to do. Just put the work in, on the field, off the field. You know, just every day."
Having someone on the roster who just wants to play for the love and joy of it is something every program wants to attract and allow into its doors. More importantly, he knows the work that it takes to be able to perform at a high level. Tezeno Jr. is going to be an excellent addition to the WR corps.
