Like Kobe Johnson and Frank Bowman before her, Londynn Jones will be able to experience playing for both sides of the USC-UCLA basketball rivalry. At over 100 games played, including 60 starts, the senior will spend her last year of collegiate eligibility in the coach Lindsay Gottlieb program.
As reported by ESPN's Alexa Philippou, the California native made the decision to join the Women of Troy. The post also mentioned that Jones is coming off a team-best three-pointers made after averaging 8.5 PPG.
Since coming out of Centennial High School, Jones' ability to shoot has been well-known. That's only further carried over at the next level with the Bruins. She has a career 35.8% from three, on an average of 5.3 attempts from distance per game.
Arguably, her best game was against a then No. 1 team in South Carolina this past season. Jones went 5-for-5 from deep as her 15 points helped to push the Bruins over the Gamecocks 77-62. The best players find their best moments against the best competition. Her ability to step off the bench and be a three-point threat for other teams to deal with had to play an important part in coach Gottlieb bringing the guard to campus.
A lot of scoring potential for the offense
On seven occasions, Jones has produced 20+ point outings. To go along with her scoring, the transfer senior also is averaging nearly a steal per game, as she has averaged 0.9 steals over her three years in college. Her active hands and overall intensity on that end of the floor make her the ideal type of two-way player that coach Gottlieb enjoys working with.
Between Kara Dunn and Jazzy Davidson, the addition of Jones should further enhance the backcourt heading into the 2025-2026 season. Coach Gottlieb bringing in veterans to help ensure continued production from those roles is only going to help the talented incoming freshman pass-first PG this fall.
Chances are a lot of assists from Davidson will end up going to Jones.
