USC football’s pursuit of four-star tight end Michael Trigg is heating up.

Four-star tight end Michael Trigg will be making his commitment decision in the near future, so it’s a good thing USC football is now trending for the Tampa product.

This week, the Trojans picked up three new predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball indicating Trigg will land in cardinal and gold.

Trigg is scheduled to announce a pledge on Oct. 11. His Top 3, which was released in August, includes USC, LSU and South Carolina.

For a long time South Carolina seemed to have the edge in his recruitment, but with the clock clicking down that appears to have changed.

USC football is gaining ground for Michael Trigg

Greg Biggins was the first 247Sports expert to throw in a projection for USC on Tuesday. He was followed on Wednesday by Steve Wiltfong and Noles 247’s Chris Nee.

Trigg is the No. 152 prospect in the class of 2021 according to the 247Sports composite. He is fifth among tight ends at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds.

Since Barton Simmons of 247Sports described Trigg as “more of a big wide receiver,” his fit in USC’s Air Raid attack makes sense.

The Trojans have continued to recruit tight ends, grabbing a commitment from three-star prospect Lake McRee for 2021 in anticipation of Erik Krommenhoek and Josh Falo’s impending graduations.

Trigg has more of a tight end’s frame than current Trojan receiver Drake London, but the comparison fits in a couple of different ways. Both are big-bodied receivers who could be deployed on the inside. Both are also basketball players.

Indeed, landing Trigg wouldn’t be a victory for USC football alone. He plans to play basketball in college and is also a target for Andy Enfield.

If signs stay pointing in the right direction, the Trojans could welcome a new commitment in both revenue sports in just over a week.
