Four-star cornerback Philip Riley committed to USC football shortly after decommiting from Notre Dame.

USC football is hitting it out of the park when it comes to recruiting defensive backs for the class of 2021.

Specifically, Donte Williams is doing work.

On Monday, four-star cornerback Philip Riley out of Valrico, Florida became the latest pledge for the Trojans in the secondary.

Riley made his commitment to USC just three days after decommitting from Notre Dame, who had picked up his pledge back in May.

What is USC football getting in Phillip Riley?

The 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback ranks No. 287 in the 247Sports composite for the class of 2021. He is No. 21 at his position and No. 41 in the state of Florida.

Riley earned those rankings as a “physical cover corner with instincts and technique that is ideal for the position,” according to Brandon Huffman.

As a sophomore at Bloomingdale High School, he had three interceptions and 28 tackles in 12 games. On offense, Riley had nine touchdowns and 952 yards on 53 catches as a receiver. He followed that up as a junior in 2019 with one interception, 22 tackles and two tackles for loss, focusing on defense.

His senior campaign is currently in motion, but he showed some skill as a kick returner with a 72-yard touchdown return.

Riley is the second pure cornerback in USC’s recruiting class of 2021 and the sixth defensive back in total. The Trojans have already secured commitments from four-star corner Prophet Brown, four-star athletes Calen Bullock, Anthony Beavers Jr. and Jaylin Smith, as well as four-star safety Xamarion Gordon.

With Riley on board, USC now has 19 commitments for 2021.

Williams and USC may not be done stacking up that DB class either. The Trojans recently picked up predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball for four-star athlete Ceyair Wright out of Loyola.
