USC football recruiting roundup: Key Trojan target to announce on Sunday
Key USC football recruiting target Julien Simon is set to commit on Sunday, plus more Trojan recruiting news.
USC football’s class of 2021 is up to No. 8 in national rankings from the 247Sports composite thanks to their latest commitment from four-star wide receiver Quaydarius Davis.
And another four-star pledge could be coming down the line very soon.
On Sunday, four-star athlete Julien Simon revealed he will make his commitment on Mother’s Day, May 10.
CHECK OUT: Markese Stepp just needs a chance
That’s potentially big news for USC considering how the Trojans have a 100 percent share of Crystal Ball predictions for the No. 99 player in the country.
If the Trojans were to add the commitment of Simon, the class of 2021 would feature nine players in the Top 350. By comparison, USC’s last recruiting class had just one.
Top 10 for Hal Presley
Three-star 2021 prospect Hal Presley announced his Top 10 on Monday last week.
The wide receiver who ranks 481st nationally is considering USC along with Cal, Ole Miss, Baylor, Louisville, Utah, Texas, Michigan, Michigan State and Arkansas.
Final 11 for Will Latu
Four-star athlete Will Latu trimmed his list to a Final 11 on Sunday, listing USC’s competition as Kansas State, Washington, Washington State, Colorado, Utah, Oregon State, Nebraska, Michigan, Tennessee and Arizona State.
The No. 263 player in the class of 2021, Latu projects as a linebacker or running back at the college level. Since he hails from Spanaway, Washington, it’s easy to see why the Huskies lead in his crystal ball predictions.
Top 14 for Tywone Malone
Four-star defensive tackle Tywone Malone is the No. 56 player in the 247Sports composite, so competition for his signature is high.
The Trojans will contend with Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Rutgers, LSU, Florida State and Virginia Tech.
Top 20 for Enai White
It’s early for Enai White, who is the No. 8 player in the class of 2022, so we’ll forgive him for the number of schools he is still considering.
The four-star weakside defensive end dropped a Top 20 including USC and Notre Dame, along with Pac-12 rivals like Oregon, Washington and Arizona State. In the SEC he is considering Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky and Ole Miss. The Big Ten has Penn State, Michigan and Maryland in the mix. The only two ACC schools are Miami and Pitt. The only Big 12 representatives are Texas and Oklahoma.
There’s a lot still to unravel on that front.
Elijah Arroyo commits to Miami
That was quick.
Just a couple weeks ago Elijah Arroyo, now a four-star tight end from Frisco, Texas, named USC in his Top 10 schools.
Now he is committed to Miami.
