Three-star linebacker Stanley Taufoou committed to USC football’s 2019 recruiting class on Wednesday, per Grace Brethren HS on Twitter.

USC football added another name to their 2019 recruiting haul on Wednesday with the commitment of linebacker Stanley Taufoou.

Taufoou is a three-star prospect out of Grace Brethren High School in Simi Valley and it was his high school’s Twitter account which shared the news of his pledge.

“Congratulations to [Stanley Taufoou] for accepting a full ride football scholarship to The University of Southern California!” Grace Brethren HS Athletics tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

The Trojans offered the 6-foot-2, 245-pound inside linebacker on Wednesday and it didn’t take long for him to jump on the opportunity.

Taufoou ranks 832nd nationally in the 247Sports composite and 87th in California overall. He is 31st among inside linebackers.

More from Reign of Troy

USC’s need for linebackers this recruiting cycle is fairly low. The Trojans brought in six linebackers in the class of 2018, three projecting to an outside spot and another three intended to play on the inside. Those include highy-rated stars like Palaie Gaoteote, Solomon Tuliaupupu and Raymond Scott.

Still, a number of linebackers are due to leave in the next two years. Cameron Smith and Porter Gustin will graduate after the 2018 season while John Houston and Jordan Iosefa will have their eligibility run out in 2019, if they don’t jump for the NFL first.

The Trojans could use more players in their current class period. Taufoou becomes just the third commitment for 2019, joining four-star offensive tackle and Jason Rodriguez and three-star wide receiver Munir McClain.

Along with Taufoou, USC is pursuing other linebacker options in the class, with four-star Maninoa Tufono recently naming the Trojans among his favorites.
