With the college football season over, ’tis the season to crown USC All-Americans. Which Trojans will find themselves on the All-American wall at the McKay Center?
There are 166 USC All-Americans enshrined on the All-American wall along the tunnel outside of the McKay Center, which the football team passes through every afternoon on their way to practice at Howard Jones Field.
Among the names on the plaques are legendary Trojans Matt Leinart, Ronnie Lott and Junior Seau. There’s Heisman Trophy winners like Marcus Allen, record holders like Marqise Lee and those with a mystique like the one-handed Brice Taylor.
Without question, earning a spot on the wall is a goal for any USC football player. They must be an All-American to do so.
Officially, the NCAA only counts All-Americans from five of the most prestigious outlets: The Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association, the Football Writers of America Association and The Sporting News.

Should a player be named a first-team All-American in three of the five recognized outlets, they’re noted as a consensus All-American, while sweeping first-team honors stands as a unanimous All-American selection.
Marqise Lee in 2012 was the last Trojan to win unanimous All-American honors, while Adoree’ Jackson earned a consensus nod in 2016.

In contrast to the NCAA’s narrow selection for All-American honors, USC’s athletic department looks at a wider scope of media to help stock plaques on the All-American wall. In 2016, first-team selections by digital outlets CollegeSportsMadness.com and Campus Insiders landed Zach Banner and Chad Wheeler on the wall, respectively.
Who else will be forever on display for players to see on their stroll to Howard Jones Field?
