Deontay Burnett injured his toe against Oregon State, putting the receiver’s status in doubt for the coming week. Here’s the USC injury report for Week 7.

It’s a good thing USC had 13 different players catch a pass against Oregon State, because Sam Darnold may be without his favorite target this week.

Junior receiver Deontay Burnett suffered a toe injury and was pulled from the Trojans 38-10 victory over the Beavers on Saturday. His status will be evaluated on Tuesday, head coach Clay Helton said during his weekly conference call.

Burnett has been limited in practice over the last two weeks because of a shoulder problem, but he played through it against Washington State and Oregon State.

If Burnett is unable to go, the Trojans would turn to Velus Jones Jr. and Trevon Sidney as options in the slot. Both caught a pass this weekend.

USC Injury Report:

  • Out for season: K Michael Brown (knee), CB Greg Johnson (shoulder), LB Tayler Katoa (knee), CB Jonathan Lockett (hip), S Isaiah Pola-Mao (shoulder), OL Viane Talamaivao (pectoral), WR Keyshawn “Pie” Young (hamstring/redshirt)
  • Out: RB Stephen Carr (foot), OLB Hunter Echols (hip), OLB Porter Gustin (toe/bicep), TE Daniel Imatorbhebhe (hip), OT Nathan Smith (knee), DL Marlon Tuipulotu (back)
  • Questionable: WR Deontay Burnett (toe), DL Malik Dorton (knee), OL Chuma Edoga (ankle), DL Rasheem Green (ankle), WR Jalen Greene (concussion), LB Jordan Iosefa (concussion), Damon Johnson (back/concussion)
  • Probable: DL Josh Fatu (knee), WR Steven Mitchell (groin), OL Andrew Vorhees (back)

USC also faces question marks at longsnapper, right tackle and defensive tackle after the Oregon State game.

Longsnapper Damon Johnson left Saturday’s game with a back problem and a concussion. He will be in concussion protocol this week.

Right tackle Chuma Edoga was unable to play this weekend due to a high ankle sprain and despite his best efforts he may miss another game. Helton described his starting lineman as “day-to-day” with hopes of getting back on the field in time to face Utah.

“High ankle sprains are tough but he’s always been a tough kid mentally,” Helton said.

There is even more doubt surrounding freshman defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu. The lineman has missed time this season with a knee injury, but it is his back which is now has him sidelined.

Helton indicated Tuipultou is slated to sit down with doctors early this week to decide on his future, but there appears to be a possibility for him to be shut down because of the injury.

Fellow freshman defensive tackle Brandon Pili played on Saturday, effectively burning his redshirt. He would likely take Tuipulotu’s place in the rotation as needed.
