USC Injury Report: Jack Jones sits out, Greg Johnson pulled (8/9)
Cornerback took a minor hit with Jack Jones missing out and Greg Johnson pulled on Wednesday. Here’s the latest USC injury report from practice No. 9 of fall camp.
USC’s cornerback position is looking a little bit dinged up these days. The good news is the unit isn’t facing any major injury concerns.
Jack Jones sat out on Wednesday and is expected to miss a couple of days with an arm and shoulder issue that needs a bit of a rest, head coach Clay Helton said after USC’s ninth fall camp practice.
As a result of Jones’ absence, Isaiah Langley moved up into the first team for the day.
Jones wasn’t the only cornerback with an upper body concern.
Freshman corner Greg Johnson was pulled from action after injuring his shoulder during a team period.
USC Injury Report:
- Out for camp: LB Tayler Katoa (knee), CB Jonathan Lockett (hip), OT Nathan Smith (knee)
- Out: TE Josh Falo (knee), TE Daniel Imatorbhebhe (hip), CB Jack Jones (arm), S Matt Lopes (toe), TE Tyler Petite (concussion), RB James Toland (groin), OL Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring), WR Keyshawn “Pie” Young (hamstring)
- Limited: DL Kenny Bigelow (knee), CB Je’Quari Godfrey (knee), CB Greg Johnson (shoulder), OL Frank Martin (hamstring)
Johnson pulled up holding his arm after a rep defending Josh Imatorbhebhe. He was tended to by a trainer and missed the remainder of the day. Helton called the injury minor but did not give a timetable for his return.

At safety, the Trojans were once again without safety Marvell Tell, who is fighting a tight hamstring. On Tuesday, C.J. Pollard took his place next to Chris Hawkins while Wednesday saw Ykili Ross grab first team reps as well.
Meanwhile, at tight end USC is still coping with injuries to Tyler Petite and Daniel Imatorbhebhe. The former was back dressed on Wednesday but still limited while going through concussion protocol. Imatorbhebhe is expected to miss a couple weeks with a hip flexor.

Overall, USC has stayed healthy over the past week. The Trojans welcomed Viane Talamaivao back to action on Tuesday after the right guard missed time due to a rolled ankle. He had been easing back into things after undergoing elbow surgery earlier this year.
Oluwole Betiku was also back in the line up after sitting out with turf toe.
