Three-star defensive tackle James Lynch announced his commitment to USC football Saturday evening, giving the Trojans their 15th commit for 2017.

James Lynch, a product of Round Rock, Texas, is the latest recruit to commit to USC football for the 2017 class.

“So blessed to officially announced I’m committing to the USC Trojans!” the three-star defensive end and offensive tackle made the announcement on Twitter Saturday night.

USC offered the 6-foot-4, 282 pound prospect in June, just a few weeks after he committed to TCU. Lynch de-committed from the Horned Frogs on Thursday, citing a desire to weigh his options.

Clearly, weighing his options signaled his desire to commit elsewhere.

Lynch is rated as the No. 60 defensive tackle in the 2017 class, per the 247 Sports composite. He is the No. 116 player in the state of Texas and the No. 885 prospect in the nation.

USC’s 2017 class features two defensive end commits in four-star Hunter Echols and three-star Jacob Lichtenstein, who both committed this month.

However, Lynch dwarfs both of those linemen and offers the Trojans their first big body on the defensive line, an area in need of reinforcements.

Though USC added Utah transfer Stevie Tu’ikolovatu and flipped Khaliel Rodgers over to the defensive line, the former only has one year of eligibility remaining while Rodgers is a fourth-year junior and could be gone as soon as next year.

With Lynch in the fold, the Trojans boast 15 commits in the class, headlined by five-star running back Stephen Carr, four-star offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker, the former UCLA commit Echols and four-star center Brett Neilon.

Lynch also represents the latest in a slew of recent commits. He is the fifth recruit to pledge for the Trojans this month.
