Four-star defensive end Malik Herring announced his Top 5 on Twitter, with USC football listed among his favorite schools.
USC football remains in the running to sign Georgia-based recruit Malik Herring, after the four-star defensive end named his Top 5 on Monday.
“God gets all the glory!” Herring wrote on Twitter.
Though Herring didn’t indicate if the list was in order, Alabama sits No. 1 with Clemson at No. 2, USC at No. 3, Georgia at No. 4 and LSU at No.5.
Herring had named his Top 7 last month, but Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee both missed out on this list.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound prospect is the No. 4 strongside defensive end in the class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He is the No. 10 recruit in Georgia and the No. 94 player overall in the class of 2017.
To secure his signature USC will need to make a big impression over the course of the next six months. An overwhelming number of 247 Sports crystal ball experts have predicted that Herring will ultimately sign with Georgia, the home-state favorites.
That the Trojans made their way into the Top 5 along with the southern schools is a good sign for now though.

USC’s 2017 class is devoid of defensive line talent at the moment. Among the nine commits currently pledged, none play up front.
New defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze and defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast will no doubt want to change that sooner than later, with reinforcements needed for the rebuilt defensive front going forward.
Last Friday the Trojans made the Top 11 for UCLA de-commit and weakside defensive end Hunter Echols.
Current commits to USC include running back Stephen Carr, center Brett Neilon, tackle Andrew Vorhees, tight end Erik Krommenhoek, wide receiver Marlon Williams, athlete Randal Grimes, safety C.J. Miller and linebackers Juliano Falaniko and Daniel Green.
