USC Football Recruiting: 5-Star Safety Jeffrey Okudah Names Top 6
Five-star safety Jeffrey Okudah, one of the nation’s top prospects in 2017, named USC football in his Top 6 schools Monday night.
USC football made the cut for the nation’s top safety, listed among Jeffrey Okudah’s Top 6 schools along with Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Georgia.
“First off, I want to start off by saying Happy Birthday to my beautiful mother. After 52 yeas of nothing but hard work and perseverance, I am glad to say you will not have to pay a dime for my college education!” Okudah wrote on Twitter.
“Next I want to thank every single school for the opportunity to further advance my athletic and academic endeavors. After praying on it, I will be moving forward exclusively with these six schools.”
The five-star prospect is rated as the No. 1 safety and the No. 5 player in the country, per 247 Sports composite. At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds he plays on both sides of the ball as a cornerback and wide receiver for South Grand Prairie in Texas.

Crystal Ball projections for Okudah vary widely with most experts predicting him to sign for the Ohio State Buckeyes while others expect him to stay closer to home with Baylor or Oklahoma.
USC recently welcomed the commitment of three-star safety C.J. Miller out of Powder Spring, Georgia and have held a long-time pledge from four-star Bishop Gorman safety Bubba Bolden. For a player of Okudah’s talent though, the Trojans would surely have room.
The Trojans Class of 2017 currently stands at ten commits, with Bolden and Miller as well as five-star running back Stephen Carr, four-star center Brett Neilon, three-star tackle Andrew Voorhees, three-star athlete Randal Grimes, three-star wide receiver Marlon Williams, three-star tight end Erik Krommenhoek and three-star linebackers Daniel Green and Juliano Falaniko.
