Rumor has it USC football will sport a new look for their away jersey in 2016, with a cardinal collar and sleeve cuffs.
Could USC wear new away jerseys in 2016? Word on the street suggests that a change could be coming.
Scott Wolf of the Daily News reported that the Trojans are set to debut a white away jersey with a cardinal collar and sleeve cuffs.
If true, that would mean the Trojans will have changed both versions of the jersey. USC has already teased a change to the home uniforms with the subtle addition of the Greek key pattern on the collar.

So what might the new USC away jersey look like? Here’s some guesses…
If the Trojans wanted to keep things as subtle and simple as possible, they could simply apply the same pattern on the white jerseys as they appear to have added to the cardinal shirt.
Alternatively, USC could do something much more drastic.
The Greek key pattern was revealed as part of the Trojans athletics branding redesign with gold as the accent.
If the gold is integrated as well, the Trojans may take the field in something akin to Florida State’s road jerseys, with a cardinal jersey overlaid with the gold pattern.
As for the cuffs, that’s more difficult to imagine on USC’s jerseys with the current shoulder design.
That could mean something akin to a complete redesign, a la Florida State’s shoulders, or the inclusion of undershirts with a pattern underneath, as Nike introduced in 2012.

Here’s a look at what we think the away jersey could look like in 2016 with a broad collar and subtle cuff.
USC’s jersey has been the subject of much debate over the years with some fans and players calling for changes or alternates, while a significant portion of the fan base prefers maintaining the traditional look of the uniform.

In the past, Nike has reportedly offered the Trojans their choice of a number of alternate looks but the school has stood firm on it’s iconic look.
Though Steve Sarkisian appeared to be a fan of changing things up, his successor Clay Helton has preached a return to old school USC football. His stance on extending that philosophy to uniforms is unknown. At the very least he has signed off on the subtle changes to the home shirt.
Recently, the Trojans introduced a shiny chrome helmet which was worn at times last season, though it is not clear if that helmet will be worn again this year.
