USC football grabbed a tenth commitment for the Class of 2017 as three-star tight end Erik Krommenhoek pledged for the Trojans Monday.

Monte Vista tight end Erik Krommenhoek has committed to USC football over UCLA, Colorado and Arkansas, announcing his decision on Monday afternoon on Twitter.

“After talking it over with my family I’ve decided to commit to the University of Southern California,” Krommenhoek wrote on Twitter. “I want to thank everyone who’s helped me to get here, and I’m super excited to have this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a Trojan!”

The three-star recruit is the No. 27 tight end in the class and the No. 61 player in the state of California, according to the 247 Sports composite.

Though he is not a high-profile recruit, Krommenhoek has great size at 6-foot-5, 243-pounds and can function as a blocking tight end while also contributing to the passing game. He fits the trend of USC’s commits in this class as an off-the-radar prospect.

Interestingly enough, Krommenhoek comes from a UCLA family. Both of his parents are Bruins, according to Greg Biggins of Scout.com.

The Trojans have worked to revamp their tight end pool and appear to be well on their way to replenishing the unit with the transfer of Daniel Imatorbhebhe and the signing of Tyler Petite in 2015 and Cary Angeline in 2016.

Current USC commit Randal Grimes projects as either a wide receiver or tight end and could ultimately fill a spot in that role as well.

The summer has helped to heat up USC’s recruiting efforts. Trojans now have ten commits for the 2017 class, including four in the past month.

Last week three-star safety C.J. Miller committed to USC while four-star center Brett Neilon and three-star tackle Andrew Vorhees pledged earlier in June.

USC’s class also includes five-star running back Stephen Carr, four-star safety Bubba Bolden, three-star receiver Marlon Williams, and three-star linebackers Juliano Falaniko and Daniel Green.
