Four-star defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, one of the top players at his position for 2016, named USC football among his Top 10 teams Tuesday night.

K’Lavon Chaisson, a four-star defensive end out of Houston, Texas, named his Top 10 schools on Twitter Tuesday, listing USC football among his favorites.

“As many of you guys know, I’m not the talkative type or an attention lover. I just play ball,” Chaisson wrote in a note on Twitter.

“I would like to thank all the colleges who has had legit interest in me and recruited me. I’m still open but as of now I would like to narrow my list down to 10 schools in which I feel that are best for ME. Thanks to everyone who has helped me through this process.”

The list, in order, includes Oklahoma as Chaisson’s favorite followed by Houston, LSU, Florida State, Georgia, UCLA, Notre Dame, Colorado, USC and Texas.

Chaisson is the No. 5 weakside defensive end in the class and the No. 13 player in the state of Texas for 2017.

At 6-foot-4, 211 pounds, Chaisson would be a welcome addition to USC’s defensive line as a pass rusher. However, the Trojans have a ways to climb to get serious consideration from the North Shore product, who has been projected to Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma on the 247 Sports crystal ball.

Another top-rated defensive end, Malik Herring out of Georgia, named USC among his top schools this week but as with Chaisson the Trojans are not in prime position to land his signature.

USC did pick up a new commitment on the defensive side of the ball for 2017 recently as three-star safety C.J. Miller gave a verbal pledge to the Trojans on Monday.

Clay Helton’s staff has bolstered USC’s total class this offseason to nine commits including running back Stephen Carr, safety Bubba Bolden, center Brett Neilon, receiver Marlon Williams, linebackers Daniel Green and Juliano Falaniko, athlete Randal Grimes and offensive tackle Andrew Vorhees.

The Trojans also picked up help along the defensive line in the form of Utah transfer Stevie Tu’ikolovatu.
