Su’a Cravens posted an official 40-yard dash time of 4.65 seconds at USC Pro Day on Wednesday as he continues on the road to the 2016 NFL Draft.

USC linebacker Su’a Cravens received a big boost in his official 40-yard dash time of 4.65 seconds after his unofficial times were clocked significantly slower at USC Pro Day on Wednesday.

Initial reports had Cravens’ times at 4.69 and 4.7, which would have put him among the worst 40 times for safeties at the Combine and in the middle of the pack for linebackers.

Luckily for the hybrid linebacker-safety, those times were significantly off. His official of 4.65 would have ranked in the top eight times at the combine for linebackers. He would still be on the slow side in the safety group that ran at the Combine but at a much more respectable level.

The Trojan opted not to run at the Combine because he ran a faster than expected time in the lead up to Indianapolis and wanted to improve on that even more before USC’s Pro Day.

Cravens received mixed reviews at the Combine because his physical testing did not seem to match his performance in on-the-field workouts. While scouts were impressed with his fluidity on the field he disappointed with a 27-inch vertical jump and 114-inch long jump with just 16 reps on the bench press.

At Pro Day, Cravens improved on that vertical measurement by jumping 30.5 inches.

With the draft just over a month away, Cravens is hoping to boost his draft stock enough to sneak into the first round. Due to his hybrid status, NFL teams have evaluated him as both a linebacker and linebacker, making his stock a difficult thing to pin down.

Most projections see him going early in the second round.
