Tate Martell Seems to Really Love USC and More USC Football News

Can’t get enough USC football news? We’ve got your morning dose of all the best content from around the web concerning the men of Troy.

1st & 10:

First Take…

There is little doubt that Tate Martell sits atop Steve Sarkisian’s wishlist right now, especially after swinging and missing on a couple of fastballs in the form of Shea Patterson and K.J. Costello of the 2016 class.

Martell was on hand for the Trojans’ spring game on Saturday along with his brother Tyjon Lindsey, tweeting up a storm on his unofficial visit and raving about it every step of the way.

Now, having gone back home to Las Vegas, Martell is still all USC on Twitter. The highly touted quarterback tweeted affectionately on Monday night about a recruiting call with Trojans offensive coordinator Clay Helton.

If you didn’t know any better, you’d think that he’s wanting to commit to the 2017 recruiting class right now, joining running back Stephen Carr.

And while he might, there’s the possibility that he’s positioning himself in the drivers seat more than anything. At least for now.

In addition to Martell, USC is recruiting Hawaii quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who stopped on campus earlier this spring and raved about the Trojans just as much as Martell has.

After missing on Patterson and Costello, it would seem to be paramount that Sarkisian lands one of the two in 2017. Both have high praise behind them and plenty of attention from a host of schools.

Yet it’s probably unlikely that USC will recruit two quarterbacks in the same recruiting class again, especially of such quality as Martell and Tagovailoa.

So for now, perception is everything. The Trojans are in a good place, as the two highly coveted recruits continue to fawn over Troy as a destination.

Who commits first? We’ll have to wait and see.

USC holds the record of NFL Draft picks, with 487 Trojans selected throughout history. That could get tested this year however, as Notre Dame is right behind the Trojans at 485.
