Things are about to get very, very interesting.
That was the resounding refrain on social media Friday afternoon, when the California Court of Appeals announced its ruling denying the NCAA motion to have documents relating to Todd McNair’s defamation lawsuit sealed.
The result of that decision means the world will get an inside view of NCAA investigations for the first time.
From a USC perspective, the true extent of the NCAA’s botching of the Reggie Bush scandal and the unprecedented sanctions against the Trojans may finally be exposed.
Here’s the best of the Twitter reaction to the announcement:
In McNair ruling, justices said they aren't convinced that making the documents public would hamper future #NCAA investigations.

McNair documents won't be immediately public; #NCAA has time to seek further judicial review and decide what to file.
— Nathan Fenno (@nathanfenno) February 6, 2015
From the McNair opinion: "The NCAA is neither a part of our judicial system nor of our law enforcement apparatus."
— Nathan Fenno (@nathanfenno) February 6, 2015
The ugly simmering witches' brew of the NCAA's corrupt enforcement process is going to be unveiled. Thank you, Coach McNair.

#USC folks won't be able to undo the NCAA sanctions from the Dee COI but McNair case may delight them by embarrassing a wobbled NCAA.

Long story short: NCAA lost this round, still gonna fight it.
— Thanos (@FightOnTwist) February 6, 2015
Only difference now is that there is a court ruling in McNair’s favor to go along with Shaller’s original ruling, to Supreme Court we go
— Thanos (@FightOnTwist) February 6, 2015
Su’a Cravens’ unborn son will be recruited by USC before the NCAA stops fighting the McNair documents in court.

@ReignofTroy @JDTrojan This week just keeps getting better and better. Bring back #5 and his Heisman trophy (#7). #Justice, #Redemption, #SC

After listening to the Serial podcast, it reminded me a lot of the USC case. The ncaa was out to fulfill their narrative, not the truth.

FWIW, if you ever feel like contacting the NCAA about something: http://t.co/lUhBsk6wlK
— USC Football News (@USCFootballNews) February 6, 2015
Man the NCAA really screwed itself with its conduct in the #USC case. Attempted to get files sealed, now will be open.
— Ryan Phillips (@RumorsandRants) February 6, 2015
The NCAA will likely have to keep the process of its investigations open in the future due to today's ruling in the McNair/#USC case.
— Ryan Phillips (@RumorsandRants) February 6, 2015
NCAA basically asked the court for almost government agency status and that some things needed to be kept secret. Court didn't buy it.
