The No. 22 USC Trojans put in a dominating performance in the first half, leading the Colorado Buffaloes 35-7 on homecoming at the Coliseum.

Cody Kessler had a career half, throwing for 219 yards on 15-of-19 passing and a career-best five touchdowns. JuJu Smith put in 104 yards and a touchdown while Nelson Agholor and Bryce Dixon added two scores apiece.

Colorado’s Sefo Liufau has been kept mostly underwraps with just 90 yards and two interceptions. Tony Jons has provided the only real spark on offense for the Buffs with 52 yards on seven carries for a 7.4 yard average.

The second quarter began with Colorado driving. A trick play, featuring a reverse pass back to Liufau, moved the Buffs down the field, but yardaged was pushed back because of an illegal block. On the same play, Hayes Pullard took a hard shot to the knee and appeared injured, forcing his back up, Michael Hutchings into the action. Luckily for the Trojans, he returned a few plays later to break up a pass in the endzone.

A scrambling fourth down conversion from Liufau brought the Buffs to the goal line and Michael Atkins III punched in the touchdown from there.

The Trojans took the next drive to midfield, but Justin Davis, who had just worked his way through the crowd for a first down fumbled and gave the ball right back.

Colorado was unable to capitalize however and were forced to punt.

Kessler found JuJu Smith downfield for another big gain to start the drive. Allen then converted a long second down following a sack to set up the quarterback’s fifth touchdown of the contest and the second to Bryce Dixon, this time from nine-yards out.

Trailing by so much, Colorado elected not to punt on fourth down on the next drive, but Chris Hawkins broke up the pass and the Trojans got the ball back with time to put up more points. Nothing came of that opportunity however as USC officially for the first time.

In the first quarter, the Trojans blasted the Buffs with 28-points via Kessler touchdown passes and two USC interceptions.
