Three-star linebacker Daniel Green committed to USC Thursday night via Twitter, the same evening as receiving an offer from the Trojans.

Daniel Green, a three-star linebacker out of Portland Oregon, committed to USC Thursday night becoming the sixth commit for the 2017 class.

“With the rich Linebacker tradition and the blessings of my love ones. I’ve committed to the USC Trojans,” Green wrote on Twitter.

Green received the offer from USC Thursday and after discussing with his family, he decided to commit straight away, according to Brandon Huffman of Scout.

The linebacker had indicated on Twitter last week that he intended to commit to a school on June 3rd, hoping to focus on academics and football rather than the recruiting process.

A three-star prospect, Green is the No. 6 player ranked in the state of Oregon, according to the 247 Sports composite. At 6-foot-3,  230-pounds rates as the No. 29 inside linebacker in the class.

Thanks to his proximity to Eugene, the conventional wisdom held that Green would land with the Ducks, but the USC offer changed that picture.

More from Reign of Troy

It’s been a particularly slow stretch for the Trojans in recruiting this spring. The last two USC commitments have come from prospects in the 2018 class — linebackers Bo Calvert and Raymond Scott.

In that time, the Trojans saw cornerback Thomas Graham decommit and targets like Keyshawn Johnson Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa commit elsewhere.

USC’s 2017 class now boasts six commits.

Joining Green are five-star running back Stephen Carr, four-star safety Bubba Bolden, three-star linebacker Juliano Falaniko, three-star athlete Randal Grimes and three-star wide receiver Marlon Williams.
