In order for USC to be at the top of college football, all aspects of the program have to be aligned. While the Trojans will have a strong suit like anyone else, each part of the football operations has to be at a minimum near the top in each category compared to everyone else.
Strength and conditioning, now under the Director of Sports Performance, Trumain Carroll, is seeing encouraging signs of improvement since his coming over from Kansas State. It is something that needed to be addressed and brought to par with the rest of the college football nation.
From what is being shared, the S&C program under coach Carroll has ramped up and looks noticeably more suited to prepare the best team in the country.
How USC goes about this, particularly with the number of other advantages at its disposal, makes it so that USC getting this important aspect right will reveal tenfold results on the field.
While at KSU, coach Carroll helped the Wildcat student-athletes to make measurable jumps in their athletic performance. Something like that is something tangible that speaks to his past track record. It is more than the measurables increasing that should excite Trojan fans, however.
Critical area that needed improvement at USC
Ironing out details and helping the Trojans with their mental approach and preparation is what coach Carroll in particular will help this team out with. In athletics, the approach in any single area has a way of yielding itself, for good or worse, through the athletes' performance.

Within the role and duties of coach Carroll at USC, it appears that he is so far positioning this team to be competitive to have a strong 2025 season.
