USC's Makai Lemon is somehow flying under the radar

Although many USC fans would like to see the Trojans stick to the run game more, that is something that is difficult to do when you have someone like Makai Lemon.

To this point in the college football season, the Trojan whiteout has played exceptionally well. This comes despite often being the featured wideout for the other team to focus on, with Ja'Kobi Lane missing significant playing time due to his own injury setback.

Ordinarily, with Lane, the opposing defense would be forced to game plan for two elite wide receiving options. More often than not, however, as of late, it has been Lemon spearheading the USC offense.

He simply has a way to get open against any coverage and then do further damage once the ball is in his hands. On the national scale, there are names that are better known and that are receiving more attention.

If taking an objective view, however, it should be Lemon who is considered the Biletnikoff front-runner.

Realistic shot for USC player to win award

It is known how these types of awards can often be viewed more as a popularity contest than anything else. Granted, it is a long way off before the end of the season, and there will be plenty of games and special plays that will stand out.

If, though, Lemon continues on his current trajectory, then it surely should not be too much of a discussion in terms of who ends up walking away with the national honor.

Some Trojan fans will want to see the likes of Waymond Jordan have an uptick in carries. As long as Lemon remains healthy, he will simply have to continue to be a featured part of the USC offense.
