On Tuesday, USC announced that it has inked a new 10-year extension with Nike, continuing its historical partnership. It's been a partner for over 30 years now, as it was among the first programs in the country to sign with the iconic swoosh.

The deal is promising for athletes because they get exclusive equipment, jerseys and NIL partnerships. Fans are winning because Nike will be doing more events that fans can engage in and expanding Trojan merchandise. Athletic Director Jen Cohen echoed her excitement in a press release.

“The impact of this extended partnership on our student-athletes, loyal fans, campus community, and the entire Trojan Family will be transformational, and we look forward to many more victories together in the years ahead,” Cohen said.

Fans are winning the USC Nike Contract Extension

While the details have been minimal, as the extension was just announced, it looks to be a beneficial deal all around. Fans will be able to have more merchandise and experiences than before. The partnership means USC and Nike will be collaborating on more retail pop-ups for fans to enjoy.

Also, it's solving a problem that many fans complained about in the past by expanding its women's product line. Fans who go to the bookstore on campus know the Nike women's section is minimal and lacks variety.

Especially in JuJu Watkins' first year on campus, there was barely any merchandise that you could buy with her name or even just "women's basketball" on it. Since then, women's basketball merchandise has expanded, with JuJu being on almost every piece of clothing. But the options for women's fans specifically are still thin. With women's sports success, it's attracting new fans who are looking to buy something to represent their pride. So, this is especially exciting for the Women of Troy.

Another element of the partnership entails that Nike will support a refresh of the Bookstore, meaning fans can enjoy a new look while they shop the expanded line.

USC recruiting efforts just became even easier after new Nike deal

A huge part of why this is a win for athletes and fans is that it's attractive to athletes in the NIL era. USC is now a part of Nike Blue Ribbon Elite, which allows athletes to collaborate on brand campaigns, products and storytelling. The athlete class will be announced in the coming weeks, but the school's marketing gives fans a good sense of who will be a part of it.

In addition, the Trojans will be the first school in the country to have Nike Strength equipment. The equipment will be used in the new football facility, the Bloom Football Performance Center. There's great news for basketball as well. Men's and women's hoops will get custom uniform collections from Nike's design teams.

It's undisclosed how much this deal costs, but the perks are saying it's a big one. Nike is taking another bet on a school that's won 139 national championships, so it looks like it'll be a safe one.
