The all-time relevance and historical significance of USC make it so that it becomes silly very quickly when anyone doubts the status of the program as a blue blood in college football.
When looking at some of the past accomplishments, the Trojans have, among other things, 11 national titles, eight Heisman Trophy winners, and 37 conference titles to their name.
Now, looking at how the program is going about its business, things are starting to look more and more like what USC has looked like during the prime football years. When the Trojans are operating at full capacity and going about things the right way, the program has the opportunity to outshine and outclass even the best of schools in college football.
It is early on in the turnaround. The previous two seasons under coach Lincoln Riley needed to be corrected. His predecessors, since coach Pete Carroll, too, have made it so that too many now show a willingness to dismiss the greatness of USC and treat the Cardinal and Gold emblem as something to laugh at.
Early glimpses from USC
As can be seen, however, through the latest string of wins on the recruiting trail, particularly when it comes to local SoCal talent, the formidable presence and memory of the dynastic Trojan runs are proving to still be a powerful force. With this in mind, it can become exciting to think about how things will look when the wins start to pile up.
Engrained in the ethos of the sport is the feeling of fear from other fan bases when USC is performing at its best. Young, up-and-coming recruits will revel in being a part of what can almost be viewed as a redemptive movement.
A lot hinges on 2025. This could very well only be the beginning. USC is starting to act like USC again.
