There are a lot of reasons to like the current situation that USC legend Caleb Williams finds himself in. Last year, as a rookie with the Chicago Bears, the quarterback was often asked to make the most out of what would have proved to have been a difficult to near-impossible task for anyone to perform well in.

Now, coach Ben Johnson has control of the reins. A first-time head coach, the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator is setting the tone early, and Williams is not only noticing but also appreciating the added intensity and attention to detail.

While speaking with SiriusXM NFL Radio, as shared on X, there is something even more encouraging when listening to the Chicago franchise QB. Williams speaks as someone who is far from settling. He is looking to develop and learn and knows how much deeper he and the offense can operate.

This is something that is not often seen. Typically, a quarterback will speak more about wishing to execute better, but it is said so in a more general sense. For Williams, he is placing the onus on himself to continue to learn the nuances and intricacies of the coach Johnson system. He even mentioned how there are different aspects that he had not been made aware of and that he hopes to continue to uncover new and different tools of the trade.

Why the former USC QB will have things work out for him

Early returns suggest that coach Ben Johnson is just the person that will ultimately allow Williams to thrive and excel in the NFL. It will be Williams' willingness to keep progressing and improving, though, that will make him the best version of himself.

What that may look like at the pro level is to be determined. USC fans already know how good and talented Williams is and can be. Thinking that there are even greater heights for him to unlock is something that has to be scaring opposing defensive coordinators.
