Deep down, even Bruins alumni know who runs L.A. For the 14th time since the inception of the Crosstown Cup, USC has bested UCLA across all sports. The Trojans now hold an ever-increasing 14-9 advantage over their rivals.

For all of the talk of USC losing out on meaningful matchups, being able to dominate UCLA is a tradition that has happily been preserved, with realignment allowing for the matchup to continue. Formerly as Pac-12 members, now in the Big Ten, and before then even in the Pacific Coast Conference before the multitude of changes in the collegiate landscape, it is a long Trojan tradition that is not going away any time soon.

The clinching points came as a result of the USC swim & dive team sweeping UCLA for the first time in that team's history. Although a matchup in baseball during the NCAA baseball tournament is still alive as a possibility, even a Bruins win there would not be enough for UCLA to make up the points in order to take over the lead to grab the Crosstown Cup from the Trojans.

Different name, same result for USC

This inter-school competition has also seen revisions. Regardless if it is the Lexus Gauntlet, SoCal BMW Crosstown Cup, the Gauntlet, or otherwise, it all leads to the same thing: UCLA being USC's little brother.

What this latest victory in the cup's 2024-2025 edition should also further illustrate is how great the Trojans are in all of their athletic endeavors. Year-round, there is a chance for USC to flex its muscles and prove which L.A. school is better. From the hardwood to the football field to the aquatic-based sporting activities, USC runs L.A.
