With USC slated to start the Trojan season at the Coliseum against Missouri State, another important aspect has to be monitored while the games are being played. With the introduction of general manager Chad Bowden to Troy, recruiting has seen a noticeable and significant uptick.

It is the first game of the year, and there are a lot of highly touted recruits who will be present for the home matchup against the Bears. Most expect this to be a blowout. While it can help to have a recruit present for a good, close game, particularly for someone who is on the fence about where to commit to, being present for a high-margin victory also presents an excellent atmosphere for the future Trojans to be a part of.

A lot of the names who will be present for the opening game are already committed to the program. This further speaks to the efforts that have been witnessed under GM Bowden. In the past and in other programs across the country, recruiting is viewed as something that can be done on autopilot.

The current USC approach, however, is instead focused on kindling relationships with players while they are still in high school. As is, commits will often come for a game on campus. When considering the rate of recruits for the Trojans at the moment, it can be expected for it to be a common theme to see those already solidly pledged to the program continue to be on campus for game day at a higher than average rate.
