The dream of making the NFL becomes a reality during the draft. After years of outworking others in the gym and putting on tape, the status of becoming a professional and playing on Sundays is one that is only earned by a deserving few. Some, like Jaylin Smith, will look forward to hearing their name on stage during one of the rounds.

The four-year cornerback out of USC will now take that next step in his career. Good in coverage, where he separates himself is against the run game and when looking to minimize the short passing attack. Smith knows how to read plays before they develop and then provides a heavy hit to stop a ball carrier in his tracks.

While often lining up on the outside for the Trojans, Smith feels comfortable lining up in the box and coming off the edge. Either way, wherever the ball goes, his helmet can usually be seen around the action. Having someone who excels at adding that extra level of physicality from the secondary is what all NFL teams are looking for.

While speaking on ESPN's First Take, Snoop Dogg spoke on the CB. The hip-hop artist created a youth football league in Los Angeles, California. As mentioned on air, Smith played on the team that he personally coached.

'Coach Snoop' is a Netflix documentary that followed the season and undertakings of the Snoop Youth Football League. A now-familiar Trojan, Smith, who was playing up an age level, could be seen featured during the show's filming.

Heartfelt remarks from someone who knows Smith

Now ready to progress to his next chapter in life, Smith has the full backing of many, including his former SYFL coach. Snoop Dogg took a moment to share a message of how much watching the corner learn and develop meant to him. In a touching moment, he walked the audience through his perspective of the man behind the player:

"You seen a kid that was trying to figure it out. And now you watching a young adult that has figured it out. You know, whether he makes it to the NFL or not, he made it, in my eyes. I'm proud of him."

Regardless of what a stat line says or if Rodger Goodell is the one at the podium, at the end of the day, this is what sports is about. The essence of bringing human beings together to work toward and strive for a greater goal while improving on oneself is the purpose of athletics.
