A lot of times, though it is likely to be claimed to be a coincidence, USC commits will make their announcement and then see the various rating platforms drop their evaluation of them. Four-stars become three, and those everyone knows who should be five-stars somehow stay at four.
Fortunately for the latest USC commit, Mark Bowman, this proved to not be the case, as Rivals shared that Bowman was one of three high schoolers to now be rated as a five-star talent.
Bowman joins Zion Elee, who is currently committed to Maryland, and Lamar Brown. Brown is someone that was on the radar of the Trojans at one point; it seems as if that interest has fizzled out since, however.
USC has secured the commitment of Bowman, and there is a reason, bias from recruiting services or not, that it would look silly to rate him as anything other than a five-star talent.
For 2026, USC now has three five-stars in next year's recruiting class. Keenyi Pepe and Elbert Hill are already highly ranked, and reclassified R.J. Sermons was a five-star in that class but will instead be joining the Trojans this year.
As is the case on the field, momentum can sometimes be hard to slow down. This is one of many wins on the recruiting trail for the Trojans in recent months. For Bowman to be further recognized and earn this designation only speaks to how USC is seen as a preferred landing destination among the best athletes in the nation.
One year, Bowman will be on the USC campus
Bowman will now finish up her senior year at Mater Dei High School. Other fan bases are hoping that the current Trojan commit will result in a flip for their respective team. The TE is that good and garners a lot of worthy admiration from those who follow the sport everywhere.
Those hopeful voices, however, should not hold their breath in terms of Bowman changing his mind. He is a USC player through and through.
