Defensive players who left USC via the transfer portal

• DE Romello Height, Junior: Transferred to Georgia Tech
• DE Isaiah Raikes, Senior: Transferred to Auburn
• DL Korey Foreman, Junior: Transferred to Fresno State
• DL Stanley Ta’ufo’ou, Senior: Transferred to Arizona
• DL Deijon Laffitte, Freshman: Transferred to Fresno State
• DL Jamar Sekona, Junior: Transferred to Hawaii
• DL De’jon Benton, Senior: Transferred to New Mexico
• LB Chris Thompson Jr., Senior: Transferred to Tulsa
• LB Tackett Curtis, Freshman: Transferred to Wisconsin
• DB Domani Jackson, Sophomore: Transferred to Alabama
• DB Fabian Ross, Sophomore: Transferred to Hawaii
• DB Xamario Gordon, Sophomore: Transferred to Coastal Carolina
• DB Tre-Quon Fegans, Sophomore: Transferred to UCF
• DB Ceyair Wright, Sophomore: Undecided

Raikes's departure to Auburn three months after transferring to USC from Texas A&M is a bizarre offseason turn of events. The defensive end spent four years in College Station before seeking more playing time elsewhere. USC offered Raikes the opportunity to pair with Bear Alexander within the Trojans' overhauled defense. However, Hugh Freeze sold the senior on a better opportunity (and likely more NIL money) to head East.

Specialists who left USC via the transfer portal

• LS Daniel Meunier, Senior: Transferred to Texas State

Meunier is the only special teams player the Trojans lost to the transfer portal. Junior Nathan Weneta also entered his name into the transfer portal but withdrew a month later. Weneta will now compete with junior Hank Pepper for the starting long-snapper role in Los Angeles. Pepper transferred to USC from Michigan State in January.

As for Meunier, he is the presumed starting long-snapper for the Bobcats in 2024.

Stay tuned to Reign of Troy for the USC transfer portal gains list this cycle. Indeed, Riley is relying on portal players to rebuild a defense that was among the worst in college football.
