Video proves USC football quarterbacks are dialed into the preseason

A fan video posted to TikTok showed the Trojans' top three quarterbacks hitting the practice field shortly after 5 a.m. Jayden Maiava was the first signal-caller to exit the locker room, followed by Jake Jensen and Miller Moss minutes later.
USC fans assume quarterbacks in Lincoln Riley's program work hard, but we rarely witness the extra efforts. Indeed, the Trojan quarterbacks hitting the practice field before sunrise indicates desired improvement and collective success. It appears Moss, Maiava, and Jensen understand their challenge this season and have responded with more time on the gridiron.
Many questions surround Troy as USC prepares for its first season following Caleb Williams' exit. Fans might argue the Trojans underachieved with a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, but few can debate the importance of Williams' performances. Today, the tall task of filling the first overall draft pick's shoes falls on Miller Moss.
Moss finally has an opportunity to lead USC's offense after three years as a backup. The redshirt junior has remained loyal to the program, sticking around after Riley replaced Clay Helton before the 2022 season. Moreover, the Los Angeles native remained ahead of Malachi Nelson on the depth chart last year.
Moss finally has his chance to shine, and his documented work habits show he's not about wasting the opportunity.
Maiava projects as the No. 2 quarterback on USC's depth chart after transferring from UNLV last winter. As a freshman, the Hawaii native led the Runnin' Rebels to nine wins and their first appearance in the Mountain West Conference title game. Maiava was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class.
Jensen will compete with Maiava for the right to back up Moss in his third season with USC. The redshirt junior has only seen action in one game with the Trojans but started as a true freshman at Contra Costa Junior College.
Regardless of how the depth chart shakes out ahead of USC's Week 1 kickoff vs. LSU, the Trojans' quarterbacks are poised to improve each other. Such a dynamic gives USC football fans plenty to get excited about.
