On Tuesday, USC Women's Basketball landed JuJu Watkins, who is the No. 1 Women's Basketball recruit in all of America. The very next day, USC Men's Basketball landed Isaiah Collier, the No. 1 Men's Basketball recruit in all of America.
USC has become the first school ever to sign the country's No. 1 recruit in both the men's and women's game in the same year. And they did it just a day apart. Talk about an amazing way to end the early signing period for USC's athletics program...
It goes to show how strong both Andy Enfield (USC's Men's Basketball Head Coach) and Lindsay Gottlieb (USC Women's Basketball Head Coach) have proven to be as hires. This is Enfield's second straight top 10 recruiting class in the nation (247Sports), and he and the program also have 11 players in the NBA right now. That's tied for fourth in the nation.
As for Gottlieb, she has USC 3-0 this season, despite taking over the program just a season ago. Clearly, she's already making strides both on the court and on the recruiting trail at the same time. Watkins, who has a 98 Scouts Grade via ESPN, clearly gets it.
Heck, it's not like she's the only blue chip recruit the Trojans have picked up this offseason. Gottlieb also already scored another elite talent at guard in Malia Samuels, who has four stars next to her name.
Just as how there's more to USC Women's Basketball's class than JuJu Watkins, there's more to USC Men's Basketball's class than Isaiah Collier.
JuJu Watkins is the top find for USC Women's Basketball, and Isaiah Collier is the top find for USC Men's Basketball, but both programs didn't stop there. As aforementioned, USC had another blue chip recruit commit to their women's team, and it's also important to remember that the men's team picked up a couple of four stars as well.
Beyond just Collier (who has a 99 rating per 247Sports), they also picked up another four-star guard in Silas Demary Jr. Both programs have their two guards of the future. Enfield also inked a four-star center for them to dish the ball to in Arrinten Page.
It truly is a great time to be a fan of USC sports. Elite high school talent in both the men's and women's game knows it too. There's a reason they want to be a part of it, and want nothing to do with the other L.A. school.
