USC football updates on the 2021 schedule, Jurrell Casey, Antwaun Woods and more (2/28)

USC football knows the dates for at least three 2021 matchups even if the schedule is delayed. Meanwhile, Jurrell Casey was cut, Jaylin Smith took on a new role and more.

It's time to take a look at what USC football updates can be had on Feb. 28...

USC 2021 schedule hints

The Pac-12 isn't in a rush to announce their 2021 football schedule, but we know a little bit about how the slate will unfold thanks to other opponents.

BYU released their 2021 schedule on Saturday with the USC game on Nov. 27.

The official Notre Dame schedule for 2021 was released in 2019, so it may be subject to change, but unless stated otherwise the Trojans will meet their rivals in South Bend on Oct. 23.

As for the San Jose State game scheduled last February, it was supposed to take place on Sept. 4.

That means the Trojans will play an out-of-conference game in each month of the regular season.

Jurrell Casey on the open market

Former USC defensive lineman Jurrell Casey had steadily built a reputation as one of the top tackles in the league with the Titans. Then Tennessee traded him to Denver, he suffered a season-ending injury and the team released him to avoid paying his big salary.

It's been a rough ride for the five-time Pro Bowler recently, but now that he's on the open market, hopefully, he lands somewhere he can make an impact. Maybe that's back with the Titans (though they did him dirty). Maybe he'll look to chase a title with the Buccaneers or the Bills. Maybe Pete Carroll will have a look. We'll see.

USC stars (and snubs) in Top 30 WRs of the century

The "Top 30 wide receivers of the century" list put out by 247Sports gets some things right and some things wrong.

What's right? Mike Williams, Marqise Lee and Dwayne Jarrett made the list.

What's wrong? Robert Woods didn't.

Obviously not every Trojan wide receiver could expect to appear but Notre Dame's Michael Floyd and Jeff Samardzija shouldn't outrank Woods.

Jaylin Smith will be an honorary coach for Alemany

Four-star defensive back Jaylin Smith is one of the nine freshmen USC will welcome to campus over the summer. He won't actively participate in the delayed football season with Alemany though.
