USC football is losing yet another support staffer while wide receiver Drake London still isn't getting the recognition he deserves and Sam Darnold's trade value remains in flux.
Check out the latest USC football news from Thursday, Feb. 18...
Drake London will eventually get his due
When will Drake London get the respect he deserves?
This week, Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report projected the Top 10 wide receiver stars for 2021. A Trojan was included on that list, but with all due respect, it was the wrong one.
Bru McCoy appeared at No. 8 on the list. While it's reasonable to expect a big year from McCoy, he's not the "best bet" among the Trojan wide receivers. London is.
London didn't even make the honorable mention list. It's madness.
Need we remind folks of this moment?
Sam Darnold's trade saga continues
Sam Darnold may or may not be on the trade block, but the Jets quarterback gets mentioned any time quarterback deals are discussed. On Thursday, it was all in reference to Carson Wentz, whose reported trade to the Colts takes that team off the table.
Will the price for Wentz -- a 2021 third-rounder and conditional 2022 second-rounder -- impact Darnold's trade value?
So any hopes of reuniting Darnold with Michael Pittman in Indianapolis are gone. Maybe Washington or Chicago will come calling?
Shawn Howe on the move
Consider it a credit to the Trojans efforts beefing up the support staff to see so many USC staffers poached for other jobs.
Defensive quality control analyst Shawn Howe is the latest to depart, according to Bruce Feldman. He will take over the defensive line at Montana State after spending 2019 and 2020 with the Trojans as a defensive quality control analyst.
Along with Howe, USC has also seen Chris Claiborne leave for the ASU linebackers job and Hayes Pullard leap to the NFL as a defensive analyst with the Jets.
Maybe Howe will be the next Austin Clark. He was a staffer with USC who was hired away as Illinois' defensive line coach. He took the outside linebackers position with the Dolphins last year and is a candidate to be promoted to the defensive line job this year.
