USC football schedules non-conference cupcake for 2027
By Evan Desai
USC football has officially just scheduled UNLV for the 2027 season. The game will be played on September 4th of that year. Of course, that means it will likely be the first game of the season for the Trojans. SC is 2-0 against UNLV in their history, with their most recent win being in 2018 when the Trojans beat them 43-21.
The time before that was in 1997, when they won 35-21. The Group of Five program will likely continue to have a tough time against the blueblood Trojan squad. History certainly suggests that, and not just in their head-to-head matchups. UNLV has never won a National Championship, where as USC has won 11 of them (second all-time).
They also have just a 40.1% winning percentage in their history, despite mostly playing other Group of Five competition, where as USC has a 69.5% winning percentage (eighth all-time).
The Rebels have just one conference championship in their entire existence (despite playing in a Group of Five conference). SC has 37 conference championships (fifth all-time).
This is the only 2027 game scheduled for USC football so far.
Here is a look at USC football's non-conference opponents leading up to that 2027 matchup against the UNLV Rebels:
--2026: Fresno State, at Ole Miss, Notre Dame
--2025: Ole Miss, at Notre Dame
--2024: LSU (Neutral location), San Jose State, Notre Dame
--2023: San Jose State, Nevada, at Notre Dame
--2022: Rice, Fresno State, Notre Dame
UNLV is the easiest non-conference game on SC's schedule through 2027 so far. Having it at home too should be an easy win for the Trojans. Again, if USC can blow them out with one of the worst USC teams in history in 2018, they'll likely not have too much trouble against them with a Lincoln Riley-coached squad.
