USC Football RB1 Travis Dye had to leave Friday night's game against Colorado via a cart towards the end of the second quarter. The injury is suspected to potentially be serious, as he was on the ground for a very long time, grabbing his knee. His teammates also appeared very concerned for Dye as well:

There is no word, however, on if it is for sure a serious injury. After all, remember that everyone with any sort of leg injury is carted off the field at the Coliseum either during or even after games due to the hill that needs to be walked up to get to the locker room.

While there were most certainly other bad signs associated with this ailment, it's important to wait for the update after the game before judging recovery time prematurely. For what it's worth, Dye gave the Coli crowd a thumbs up as he was exiting. It is of course unclear if that means anything, though.

Surprisingly, Dye was struggling in the contest up to that point overall, but he did pick up a first down on the carry he was injured on. He had toted the rock nine times for 26 yards on the night. In to replace him was Austin Jones, who actually was leading SC in yards per carry. He was at 6.4, while Dye was at 6.3.

Travis Dye will still be a huge loss for USC Football, if he indeed is out for more time than just this game.

That's because Travis Dye was a tremendous pass-blocker for USC Football this year. Not to mention, he was also a presence in the receiving game--recording 21 catches for 202 receiving yards on the season so far. His 858 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns of course both led the team.

Dye was forming an incredibly impressive resume as a Trojan back, scoring at least one rushing touchdown in eight games heading into this week. No SC RB had ever done that since Marcus Allen in 1981. Allen won the Heisman Trophy that year.

Jones will look to make a big impact in his new opportunity, if Dye is indeed missing more time after this week. He came into this game with 261 rushing yards and three rushing scores. He also has caught eight passes for 95 receiving yards. He's more than capable of leading a strong rushing attack for SC.
