USC football proves to be NFL U with new, record-breaking Hall of Fame selection
By Evan Desai
USC football continues to have the most Pro Football Hall of Famers of any university with the recent induction of former Trojans OL Tony Boselli. Boselli was just inducted this weekend, and makes it now 14(!) Pro Football Hall of Famers from USC to be enshrined.
The reason why is because Boselli was not just at the top of the game at SC. Sure, he was a Consensus All-American with the Trojans, but he was also at the top of the game in the National Football League too. He was a five-time Pro Bowler in his seven years with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They say left tackles don't grow on trees, and that's true. Tony Boselli's, though, don't grow anywhere. Nobody has ever been luckier than the Jags to have drafted him second overall in the 1995 NFL Draft. Boselli went on to be a THREE-time AP First-Team All-Pro selection with Jacksonville.
USC football legend Tony Boselli helped lead the Jaguars to two Division titles.
The USC football icon, Tony Boselli, also helped lead the Jags to two AFC Conference Championship games. There was nobody better to protect Mark Brunnel's blind side than the 6-7, 324 pound monster of an O-lineman that Boselli was.
Despite the Jaguars being an expansion team in 1995 when Boselli signed, he helped them get good fast, as the team went 62-50 in his seven years there. They made the playoffs four times. It was only right that Boselli ended up in a gold jacket.
The other 13 USC Trojans to be in the Hall of Fame are Anthony Munoz, Marcus Allen, Lynn Swann, O.J. Simpson, Ronnie Lott, Troy Polamalu, Junior Seau, Willie Wood, Bruce Matthews, Frank Gifford, Ron Yary, Ron Mix, and Morris "Red" Badgro. A true NFL factory, this news just further proves that SC is NFL University.
