USC football has brought in their second four-star recruit commitment in the 2023 class in Coppell High School Safety Braxton Myers out of Coppell, Texas. The Trojans now have a couple of four-stars to go with their three five-stars and seven total commits for 2023 (all recruiting ratings and rankings are as of 247Sports).

Myers is not only the No. 6 Safety recruit in the nation for 2023, but he's also the No. 20 player in the loaded state of Texas. The No. 108 player nationally, Myers' 0.9523 rating is fourth-best among the current Trojan 2023 class--just behind the five-star guys SC had committed early.

At 6'1", 185 pounds, Myers has length, and has a 76.5 inch wingspan. According to 247Sports National Recruiting Expert Chris Singletary, he uses that length to his advantage when in press-man coverage; knocking wideouts out of their timing. He also said that his strong technique comes in handy when playing zone coverage.

It's excellent that Braxton Myers is a safety who can help out in coverage with USC football.

USC football didn't get as much help in coverage from the safety position last year, so to get a safety who is proficient in his coverage is very important. Singletary pointed out that Myers is strong in his backpedal and always is able to stay squared up to the pass-catcher running routes against him.

Singletary says he's good in his ball tracking abilities, and also is a dog in crashing to the ball to defend the run game whenever necessary. He truly does sound like the type of safety SC needs heading into this new era. He's the second safety committed for 2023, and the first four-star blue chipper.

SC now has the eighth-best recruiting class in the nation for 2023, and the average rating of their recruits (94.25) is higher than anybody ahead of them. The quantity of recruits may not be there just yet for SC, but the quality most certainly is. SC's going to have a great roster in 2023.
