Despite entering the season unranked, USC Basketball has all the tools to prove the doubters wrong. Head coach Andy Enfield has several players who can thrive on both ends of the floor. In addition, USC received some of the best prospects in the nation throughout the off-season.

Furthermore, USC recently introduced their team captains heading into this season. While these three players deserved the nod over anyone else, they will have to provide their leadership on and off the floor. Not to mention, each of these players have the potential to further their careers in the NBA.

The three-level scoring guard, Boogie Ellis, was chosen as one of USC's captains this year. This was a great choice as Ellis is exceptionally talented and has the potential to have one of the best individual seasons in all of college basketball. If he performs as expected, USC could easily do some damage in the March Madness Tournament.

Ellis’ star teammate, Drew Peterson, was also chosen as a team captain. This decision was straightforward as Peterson recently had a phenomenal senior year for USC Basketball. The duo of Ellis and Peterson will pose as a nightmare for opponents, paving the way for Enfield’s title hopes.

The third and final team captain is the defensive-minded forward Kobe Johnson. Although his scoring may take time to develop, Johnson is a force on the defensive end. He uses his length and quickness to make hustle plays, resulting in more opportunities on offense. Johnson might only be a sophomore, but his skill set is leveled with some of the nation’s top defenders.

USC Basketball is in great hands with Boogie Ellis, Drew Peterson, and Kobe Johnson leading the way.

With Boogie Ellis, Drew Peterson, and Kobe Johnson as the team captains, USC Basketball could go under the radar as a team that can battle against any game plan in the country. Enfield and his staff are going to take full advantage of the amount of talent they have, making room for an ‘underdog’ type season.

Last year, there were countless games where each of these players showcased why they should be given the prestigious team honor. Johnson specifically made such an impact last season that he was named USC’s best defensive player. This is extremely impressive as he was only a freshman taking full command of what he does best.

Moreover, USC Basketball made the right call in choosing these three to be the team captains. Having three players who can step up behind the scenes is vast for a coach looking to make a statement this season. Nonetheless, winning games will be much easier with multiple players who can lead in just about every aspect of the game.
