The Top 10 USC Trojans football players of the last decade
By John Fye
10. OT Austin Jackson (2017-19)
Few former Trojans can brag about playing in all 14 USC games as a true freshman like Austin Jackson can. The 6'5, 320-pound lineman emerged as USC's starting left tackle as a sophomore and started all 12 games.
Jackson's story is more incredible because he sacrificed his 2018 offseason by donating bone marrow to his sister. Then, he showcased an incredible work ethic by getting back into football shape before the new season. Jackson was a First-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2019 and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with pick No. 18 in the 2020 NFL Draft.
9. WR Michael Pittman Jr. (2016-19)
Michael Pittman Jr. accumulated one of the best receiving seasons in the last decade of USC football in 2019. The Bakersfield native hauled in 101 receptions for 1,275 yards and 11 touchdowns. Indeed, it was a near-perfect ending to a collegiate career that started ahead of schedule.
Some Trojan fans might recall Pittman was a 2016 early enrollee who showed several flashes as a freshman. He caught six passes in limited time as a receiver, returned kickoffs and punts, blocked a punt, and forced a fumble as a special teams defender. Pittman finished his career with Troy as a Second-team All-American (2019) and two-time First-team All-Pac-12 (2017, 2019) selection.
