Standout USC Football Offensive Lineman lands on dream watch list for 2022
By Evan Desai
USC football starting center Brett Neilon has been selected for the Rimington Trophy Watch List. The Rimington Trophy is awarded to the top center in college football. Neilon is certainly in the conversation, as he played 534 snaps last year and didn't give up a single sack.
That's the most snaps of ANY Power 5 center without giving up a sack last season. The Watch List was helped created by PFF, who graded Neilon as the No. 1 center in the Pac last year with an 86.2 rating. Second place wasn't even close:
It's really no surprise, as PFF selected him as their First-Team All-Pac-12 center for last season. He was also the fourth-highest graded center in all of college football. He's certainly on track for yet another excellent season, as he takes five years of experience into his sixth and final season with the Trojans.
Brett Neilon has lived up to the hype for USC football.
Starting USC Football Center Brett Neilon was the No. 2 center recruit in the country for his recruiting class (2017). He was also just outside the top 200 (No. 208) in the national overall player rankings (all recruiting rankings and ratings in article are as of 247Sports).
Neilon has developed to the type of player he is despite having to work with coaching changes that have resulted in him having to work with three different offensive line coaches in his time with the Trojans.
It would be foolish not to expect him to adjust well to his fourth this year in Josh Henson. Neilon belongs on this list, and it's not up for debate.
