USC football had quite a few selections for the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team. The Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team was released ahead of Pac-12 Media Day and was compiled by many Pac-12 media members.

They were tied with Utah for the most First-Teams selections (six), and had more Second-Team selections (four) than Utah did. They also had more Honorable Mentions than Utah did. SC had six. So, not only does USC not have the best front end talent in the conference, but many dark horses who are in the conversation too.

SC sees WR Gary Bryant Jr., DL Nick Figueroa, DL Solomon Byrd, LB Korey Foreman, DB Xavion Alford, and RS Brenden Rice all selected as Honorable Mentions. Some of them aren't too surprising, but some of them were really refreshing to see getting that type of respect.

For instance, it shouldn't be a shock that USC Football DB Alford was listed as an Honorable Mention.

Alford played well in his 10 games he got last year for USC football. Three picks in 10 games is a solid number, and he looked better via the eye test than MANY players on SC's defense last year.

It's particularly exciting, however, to see a GBJ get selected. People clearly noticed that he put up decent numbers (44 catches for 579 yards and seven touchdowns) given the awful situation he was in last season. It's refreshing to see Figueroa get his respect as a good player when healthy, as he's proven to be.

Byrd being on the list shows that USC very well may have done their homework on the Wyoming transfer and found a diamond in the rough. Foreman's selection will certainly give Trojans fans hope that he can be the player they hoped he'd be when they signed him as the No. 2 player in the country in 2021.

Rice is exciting to see because it reminds SC fans that he can run kicks back if GBJ doesn't end up doing it for any reason. Rice was good as a returner for Colorado.

Everyone knows that Caleb Williams will ball. Everyone knows that Jordan Addison will ball. Andrew Vorhees, Mario Williams, Tuli Tuipulotu; people get the point. There are a lot of great players on this team that rank very highly within the Pac-12.

To see six more on the bottom as dark horse guys with potential, though, shows that this roster may end up having more depth than expected.
